Consumer-Directed Health Care

Consumer-Driven Health Care

By allowing patients to control and manage their own health care dollars, consumer-directed health plans help individuals become more conscientious consumers of health care. Consumers are able to shop around, compare prices and providers, and select the medical services that are best for them. Doctors are able to repackage and reprice their services, competing for patients based on price and quality.

Consumer-directed health plans include Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
