Mark Pauly

Mark PaulyMark Pauly, Ph.D. is a professor, vice dean, and chair of the Health Care Systems Department in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He teaches courses on health care, public policy and management, insurance and risk management, and economics. Dr. Pauly was previously a professor at Northwestern University for sixteen years. He has also consulted for a number of organizations including the Greater New York Hospital Association, the Urban Institute, various pharmaceutical companies, and National Economic Research Associates.

Dr. Pauly's books include Health Benefits at Work: An Economic and Political Analysis of Employment-Related Health Insurance , Supplying Vaccine: An Economic Analysis of Critical Issues , and Financing Long Term Care: What Should Be the Government's Role? His recent journal publications include "Structural Incentives and Adoption of Medical Technologies in HMO Fee-for-Service Health Insurance"; "The Future U.S. Health Care System: Who Will Care for the Poor and Uninsured?"; and "The Effects of Health Insurance Access to New Medical Technologies."

Dr. Pauly received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia, his M.A. in economics from the University of Delaware, and his A.B. from Xavier University.
