Jere W. Thompson

Jere W. Thompson, NCPA Board member and former Chairman of the Board, is the president of The Williamsburg Corporation.

He joined The Southland Corporation in 1954, in the Texas 7-Eleven stores operations.

He moved to Florida in 1959 to direct the 7-Eleven stores growth in that market and returned to Dallas in 1962, as vice president of Southland's store operations.

Thompson was elected to the company's board of directors in 1961. He became president of the company in December 1973 and served as president and chief executive officer from May 1986 until March 1991.

Born on January 18, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, Thompson attended and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1954, with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Thompson is past president and board member of the National Association of Convenience Stores and past international president and board member of the Young Presidents' Organization. He also served on the board of the Chief Executive Organization.

At the University of Texas at Austin, Thompson is a member and former chairman of the Development Board; a member and former chairman of the McCombs School of Business, is a member of the Longhorn Foundation and is also a life member of the University of Texas Ex Students Association and received the UT Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1990. He is a former Chairman of the Chancellor's Council of the University of Texas System and continues to serve on the executive committee of the Council. He also was a member of the Mexican Center Advisory committee, a part of UT's Institute for Latin American Studies.

He was a member and former chairman of St. Paul Medical Center Foundation in Dallas. He was a member of the Bishops "Next Generation" campaign. Thompson is a member of the Zale-Lipshy University Medical Center Inc. board and past chairman of the American Heart Association's Corporate cabinet. He also is a strong supporter of The Muscular Dystrophy Association.

He has been active in a wide range of non-profit organizations on both the national and local levels.
