A debate between Dr. John C. Goodman and Dr. Jeanne Lambrew

Most policy experts believe the U.S. system of health care is in trouble. But there are varying theories on how to solve the problems.
On June 20, you will have a unique opportunity to hear a debate on this issue between two experts who have been sought out by presidential candidates for their health care insights. John Goodman and Jeanne Lambrew represent opposite points of view on health care policy. Their debate, sponsored by the National Center for Policy Analysis and the Dallas Democratic Forum, gives Dallas citizens an opportunity to hear directly from the experts and then make their own decisions as to which health care strategy is best for the United States.
Dr. John Goodman is president and founder of the National Center for Policy Analysis. Known as the "Father of Health Savings Accounts," Dr. Goodman is the author of nine books and has authored numerous editorials in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and many other newspapers. He regularly appears on television, including Fox News, CNN, and CNBC. A debater on several of William F. Buckley Jr.'s Firing Line shows, Dr. Goodman regularly briefs members of Congress on economic policy. He is author/co-author of more than 50 published studies on such topics as health policy, tax reform and school choice.
Dr. Jeanne Lambrew is a Senior Fellow at American Progress and an associate professor of public affairs at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas. She specializes in health care and policy and conducts research on the uninsured, Medicaid, Medicare, and long-term care. Previously, Lambrew was an associate professor at the Department of Health Policy at The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. From 1997 to 2001, Dr. Lambrew worked on health policy at the White House as the program associate director for health at the Office of Management and Budget and as the senior health analyst at the National Economic Council.
The debate will be moderated by Marianne Fazen, Ph.D. Dr. Fazen is the executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth Business Group on Health, an employer coalition committed to market-based health care reform and value-based purchasing. Fazen also served as president and CEO of the Texas Business Group on Health, was a health care marketing consultant, and an adjunct professor of health care marketing at the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management. She has served on URAC's Board since 2004 as a representative of the National Business Coalition on Health.
