Coalition for Health Funding Debate
Thursday, December 13, 2007
The Coalition for Health Funding (CHF) invited NCPA's Devon Herrick to participate in a point/counter-point debate about the need for a larger federal role in public health. The CHF is a coalition of mostly Washington-based organizations working to increase federal funding for public health, particularly by increasing the funding for federal agencies like the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Scott Lilly, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and the former Democratic staff director of the House Appropriations Committee, was Devon's opponent.
The National Center for Policy Analysis is a public policy research institute founded in 1983 and internationally known for its studies on public policy issues. The NCPA is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with an office in Washington, D.C.
