Amid skyrocketing costs and growing concerns over healthcare quality, three promising reforms are gaining ground in the market and on Capitol Hill. Each holds the potential to control costs and to give patients greater control over their medical care. They involve three types of accounts:

  • Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs)
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
  • Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs)

What are the barriers to the use of these accounts?

What problems do employers and employees have using these accounts?

What reforms would make these accounts available to more people and be able to meet patient needs?

Moderator: John Goodman, NCPA President

Presenters:

  • MSAs – Senator Larry E. Craig, (R-ID)
  • FSAs – Representative Jim DeMint, (R-SC)
  • HRAs – Ronald E. Bachman, PricewaterhouseCoopers
