During president Bush's European visit, a Swedish college student was quoted as saying, "The capitalist system is a way of living I don't agree with" – hence, her opposition to Bush and his position on the global warming treaty.

Her complaint explains in a nutshell what the greens and socialists who steer the European union find so irritating about America. They believe capitalism is philosophically inferior, and it drives them crazy that it prospers more than European socialism.
They're wrong about capitalism, of course, and Bush is right to reject the Kyoto treaty. European socialists and third world nations drafted it precisely to reduce the American economic advantage by extending international controls over the U.S.
Let's face it: if the drafters of the Accord were concerned about pollution, they wouldn't have exempted nine of the top 20 emitters of carbon dioxide, including China and India.
There is a target of the Kyoto Accord, and it's America.
