Focus Point – Bush Wins

I'm Pete du Pont with the national center for policy analysis. I said about this time last year George W. Bush would be elected president. I still think so for lots of reasons and here are three.

A couple of weeks ago, Al Gore had to reshuffle his campaign schedule because bush wasn't fading in states Gore should have had in his pocket. Somehow Gore isn't catching on in what are usually liberal states.

Then there's Ralph Nader, who stubbornly refuses to fade. That's because he's looking years ahead to federal campaign funding and needs 5% of the popular vote to get it.

The third reason is the final consequence of impeachment: the American people thought that Clinton had failed to live up to expected ethical standards. Gore will be punished for the Clinton administration's scandals.

Tomorrow, my crystal ball says bush, but … it's up to you. So make sure to vote.

Those are my ideas, and at the NCPA we know ideas can change the world. I'm Pete du Pont. Next time, a review of the Presidents.
