I'm Pete du Pont with the National Center for Policy Analysis. Remember a couple of years ago when the U.S. was sneered at for not ratifying the Kyoto Treaty on global warming? Well guess what? Neither has any other industrialized nation.
If adopted, the Kyoto treaty would cut energy use by industrialized nations by 30 to 40 percent within ten years. But developing nations, remember, don't have to play by the same rules. But according to the University of Virginia's Fred Singer, scientists have detected little or no global warming since about 1940, making it hard to accept a U.N. science panel forecast predicting a rise of more than 10 degrees fahrenheit over the next 100 years.
What's more, global data from satellites show no appreciable warming trend since the measurements began in 1979,
Global warming advocates talk about rising temperatures – and demand draconian responses – as if the science were indisputable. But that's clearly not the case. Yet we're supposed to accept the case unquestioningly, and wreck our economy.
