I'm thankful that in two months the Clinton Administration will be over.
This isn't personal. I know what Clinton has done to the office, and the sooner he's gone, the better.
Clinton — at his best — did nothing wrong: He didn't get in the way of the economy, he didn't make any permanent blunders overseas. Some presidencies are like that. Theres nothing dishonorable about enjoying good times and just keeping the wheels on. But that wasn't good enough for Bill. We had Travelgate, the FBI files, the jihad against Microsoft, fundraising scandals, and, of course, Monica….no, that's not right; not Monica. Lying about Monica. To his colleagues, to the Congress, to us. Under oath, the next president inherits a diminished office, and it's not the times, it's the shadow of Bill Clinton.
The next president will have a big job restoring the reputation of the office.
