Focus Point – The Feminized Military

I'm Pete du Pont with the National Center for Policy Analysis. If you wonder how the experiment of the unisex military is going, check out "A Kinder, Gentler Military," by Stephanie Gutman.

You won't like what you read.

In the old military, they told you "we do it this way because it's right. Now, do it." In the new military, the line is "we're glad you're here, and if there's something you're not comfortable with, we'll try and change it." Back then tradition counted. Toughness counted. Men and women joined because that's the life they wanted, not to be politically correct. But now, military readiness is out. Double standards and quotas are in. The military is trying to treat men and women as interchangeable when they clearly aren't — physically or sociologically. The results are a disaster in the making that's recognized by many of the women service personnel Gutman interviewed. They didn't sign up to be lab rats for social engineers. They signed up to be soldiers, airmen and marines.

This is a book worth reading, especially by the politicians who've lost sight of what the military is there for.

Those are my ideas, and at the NCPA we know ideas can change the world. I'm Pete du Pont. Next time, technology saves the environment.
