WASHINGTON, Feb 25- International Franchise Association President & CEO Robert Cresanti released the following statement today congratulating former IFA Chairman and IFA Hall of Fame Award Winner Jim Amos, Jr. on being named President & CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA). NCPA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization, established in 1983. The NCPA brings together the best and brightest minds to tackle the country’s most difficult public policy problems — in health care, taxes, retirement, national security, education, energy and other critical policy issues.
“Jim is one of the most strategic thinkers in franchising today with deep experience as a successful franchise leader for many successful brands,” said IFA President & CEO Robert Cresanti, CFE. “I look forward to working with Jim and NCPA to promote free enterprise and limit government controls small businesses. Jim has been a leader in promoting franchising generally and particularly through IFA’s VetFran program. Jim’s been a steadfast leader in fostering relationships with elected leaders to ensure franchising can continue to provide solutions to our nation’s veterans seeking employment and entrepreneurship.”
Former NCPA President/CEO Allen B. West is taking on a more active policy role as Executive Director/Vice Chairman of the NCPA Board of Directors and will continue to serve as a spokesman for the organization. Lt. Col. West continues to serve as a voice of the organization, focus on economic and national security policy issues, and lead the NCPA’s fundraising initiatives.
Amos is the former CEO of Mail Boxes Etc., now The UPS Store, Chairman of the Board of APFI – Proctor & Gamble’s franchising initiative, and the 2012 recipient of the Nashville Business Legend Award. He has spent a lifetime serving and supporting others both in business and in our armed services. “I look forward to working with IFA, elected leaders and allies in the think tank community to reduce policies and anti-business rhetoric that has dominated politics and policymaking for far too long,” said Amos. “We need to reeducate policymakers to make the moral and business case for free enterprise to ensure opportunity for future generations.”
Amos was inducted into IFA’s Hall of Fame in 2011 for his extraordinary contributions to franchising and the franchise community. His influence as IFA Chairman in 2001, as well as commitment to helping veterans enter franchising, have contributed greatly to the strength of the franchise sector. Over the years, Amos has shown dedication to mentoring emerging franchise leaders.
A former Marine Corps captain and veteran of two combat tours in Vietnam, Amos received 12 decorations, including the Purple Heart and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry before spending 30 years becoming one of the most renowned leaders in the franchising industry. Amos is an award-winning writer and has a continuous determination to give back to military veterans.
Amos has served or is serving on the boards of The Marine Military Academy, The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, Meineke Car Care Centers, Oreck Corporation, Zig Ziglar Corporation, WSI of Canada, The University of Missouri, SkinPhd, The HealthStore Foundation, Aspen Dental, and The Joint.
