Come hear former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at the next Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lecture Series Luncheon on Thursday, February 23 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel at Noon.  Bush will offer fresh insights on the hot-button issues in the news and the impact those issues will have on the 2012 elections, including his ideas for education reform.

After his election as Governor, education reform was Bush’s main focus.  Florida students made the greatest gains in achievement, and Florida is one of only a handful of states that closed the achievement gap.  In addition, Bush cut taxes every year during his tenure as Governor and Florida led the nation in job growth. Bush also put Florida on the forefront of consumer healthcare advances by signing Medicaid reform legislation “Empowered Care” in June 2006.  He is currently the chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, a national foundation focused on education reform.

Jeb Bush is a unifying leader who brings civility to the discussion of bi-partisan viewpoints while addressing the key issues facing the nation. Whether leading transformation efforts on issues of importance like education, healthcare and immigration, or managing crisis response to the eight hurricanes that hit Florida during his time in office, Bush understands how organizations can literally be blown apart by the winds of change.
