Lawrence Eagleburger has served in four presidential administrations and spent 27 years in the Department of State. He began his career in foreign service in 1957.

Mr. Eagleburger worked with Dr. Henry Kissinger on national security issues during the Nixon Administration. He went on to serve as political adviser and chief of the political section of the U.S. Mission to NATO in Brussels. He was appointed Ambassador to Yugoslavia by President Carter in 1977. In early 1981, President Reagan nominated him to be Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs and a year later to Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, the third-ranking position in the State Department.

Mr. Eagleburger capped his brilliant 27 year career in the State Department when he was named Secretary of State by President George H.W. Bush. He helped chart and guide U.S. foreign policy through the turbulent end of the Cold War, the conflict in the Balkans, the revolutionary changes in the former Soviet Union and the Gulf War.

Recently, he has been a regular TV commentator discussing "Operation Iraqi Freedom." With his extensive experience and knowledge of national security and foreign policy issues, he provides unique insight into the post-September 11th world.
