WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) and the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) will sponsor a Senate Briefing on Global Warming to address the global warming myths that are serving as the backbone of an internationally binding environmental treaty due to be signed this December in Kyoto, Japan. This briefing comes a week before President Clinton's October 6th Global Warming Summit at Georgetown University.
The briefing will include segments on:
- the state of climate science,
- the science of global warming,
- climate change and disease,
- the impact of state economics and
- the case against a global treaty.
Briefing participants include Senator Chuck Hagel, co-sponsor of the Hagel-Byrd Senate Resolution against signing the global warming treaty in its current form; H. Sterling Burnett, environmental policy analyst for the NCPA; Jonathan Adler, director of environmental studies for CEI; Roy Spencer, NASA senior scientist; Sallie Baliunas with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics/Marshall Institute; Sidney Shindell, Professor Emeritus at Medical College of Wisconsin; Glenn Schleede, environmental consultant with the National Consumer Coalition; and Frank Gaffney with the Center for Security Policy.
The NCPA's Sterling Burnett will be in Washington from September 29 through October 1 and will be available for interviews.
