Washington, D.C. – National Center for Policy Analysis' Senior Fellow Morgan Reynolds will testify before a House subcommittee Wednesday on the Paycheck Fairness Act. The legislation would require unions to obtain written consent before spending a worker's compulsory dues for political purposes. Reynolds claims that the bill would be a second-best solution to the problem of union abuse of workers' paychecks.
Dr. Reynolds will argue that the best solution would be to repeal the monopoly representation section of the National Labor Management Relations Act. With that section removed, private-sector unions would no longer be obligated to deliver union benefits to non-members, and forced unionism and forced dues would not exist. As a result, only voluntary dues would be diverted into politics.
Dr. Reynolds will address his remarks to the Subcommittee on Employer-Employee Relations of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Congressman Harris Fawell.
