NCPA Expert Weighs in on Which Candidate is Best for Small Business

DALLAS (October 16, 2008) – John McCain and Barack Obama have turned Joe Plumber into the most famous small-business owner in America, bringing focus to small businesses everywhere, and the issues that are important to them. For instance, with the elected president, will small business owners have to pay taxes, or won't they? How will their tax plan affect small business?

Terry Neese, NCPA Distinguished Fellow and business expert says the presidential candidate who can pledge to NOT raise taxes is the best candidate for small business.

Obama's recent comment, "I think that when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody," leaves Terry and many other small business owners with the impression that Obama believes that small businesses can afford to pay more taxes to help others.

"According to the Small Business Administration, there are 26.8 million small business owners in this country and the majority of them either can't afford to, or don't WANT to pay one more dime in taxes," Terry says. "In fact, the less they pay in taxes, the more jobs they can provide to the American people!"

Terry Neese was named by Fortune Magazine as one of the most influential small business people in the country, and as a business owner herself, she is well aware of the challenges that business owners face.
