NCPA's Reynolds To Discuss Texas Death Penalty On The PBS' "Newshour With Jim Lehrer" & MSNBC/CNBC's "Hardball With Chris Matthews"

DALLAS (June 22, 2000) – Dr. Morgan Reynolds, director of the National Center for Policy Analysis' (NCPA SM) Criminal Justice Center will appear on the PBS program, NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and a special edition of Hardball with Chris Matthews this evening to discuss the controversy surrounding the pending execution of convicted killer Gary Graham.

Hardball will be presenting a special edition this evening to track events as they occur. Graham's execution is scheduled for 7:00pm CDT. Reynolds will be on along side Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz.

As the director of the NCPA's Criminal Justice Center, Reynolds is the author of the Reynolds Report, an annual study of the time criminals can expect to spend in prison for their crimes, and frequently writes about the role of punishment and its expectation in crime prevention. Reynolds has published more than 50 articles in academic journals and has had opinion pieces published or has been quoted in such national newspapers as the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Washington Times and the New York Times.
