Gov. du Pont Formerly Served as NCPA Policy Chairman
DALLAS (November 16, 2004) – The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) has announced that former Delaware Governor Pete du Pont has been elected to serve as chairman of the board of the Dallas-based public policy research organization. Gov. du Pont was elected today at a meeting of the NCPA’s board of directors in Dallas. He will assume his new duties immediately.
“Public policy has never been more important than it is today,” du Pont said. “From health care to tax policy to the reform of Social Security, the NCPA is uniquely positioned to play an even larger role in the development of policies that benefit the American people.”
Gov. du Pont writes a regular column, “Outside the Box,” for OpinionJournal.com, the editorial page Web site of The Wall Street Journal.
“As long-time chairman of the NCPA’s Policy Committee, Gov. du Pont is uniquely qualified to help lead the NCPA in its mission of providing private-sector solutions to public policy problems,” said NCPA President John C. Goodman.
In addition to serving as governor, du Pont was a Republican presidential candidate in 1988 and formerly served as a U.S. representative from Delaware. He is currently director of the Wilmington law firm of Richards, Layton and Finger.
Gov. du Pont is a graduate of Princeton University and the Harvard University law school. He and his wife, Elise, have a daughter, three sons, four granddaughters and three grandsons.
