Pete Geddes

Pete GeddesPete Geddes is Development Director of the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC). The fundamental objective of PERC's work is to improve environmental quality through markets and property rights.

Prior to joining PERC Pete spent fourteen years at the Foundation for Research Economics and the Environment (FREE), first Program Director and later as Executive Vice President

A native of New York State Pete received his BS from St. Lawrence University, where he majored in geology. He holds an MS from the University of Montana School of Forestry where he was awarded a Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship. Pete was a member of the senior faculty at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and a middle school science teacher.

Pete is an adjunct scholar with the National Center for Policy Analysis. He is co-editor of Saving a Place: Endangered Species in the 21st Century published by Ashgate Press. His writings have also appeared in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the Journal of Forestry, Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, The Wall Street Journal, and the Seattle Times.

Pete and his wife Julie live in Bozeman with their three boys Chris, Ryan, and David. Pete is actively involved with his community, serving as a trustee of the Sourdough Fire Department and as president of the Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association.
