Dallas – The National Center for Policy Analysis announced today that an episode of the nationally syndicated program DebatesDebates, which was sponsored by the NCPA, will begin airing nationally this week.
The episode: "Should We Privatize Medicare?" features an all-star cast debating an issue currently before members of Congress and the White House. The affirmative side is led by John C. Goodman President and founder of the National Center for Policy Analysis. Dr. Goodman is joined by Thomas Saving, Director of the Private Enterprise Research Center on the campus of Texas A& M University. Dr. Saving co-authored a groundbreaking study on Medicare reform which was published by the NCPA. Also speaking for the affirmative side is Greg Scandlen, health policy fellow with the Cato Institute.
The opposition team is led Robert Kuttner, Co-editor of the magazine The American Prospect. Kuttner, a frequent team-leader for DebatesDebates, is the author of four books and was the longtime economics editor for The New Republic. Kuttner is joined by Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA, a national organization for health care consumers; and Edith Rasell, a former practicing physician who currently is an economist with the Economic Policy Institute, where she writes a newsletter called "Paycheck Economics."
