State Health Care Reform Briefing

State Health Care Reform Briefing

The NCPA sponsored a Capitol Hill briefing about state health care reform efforts, including an announcement of the recent publication of NCPA's Handbook on State Health Care Reform.  Entitled "The Federal Role in State Health Care Reform," the briefing included remarks about reform efforts in Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts and California by Michael Bond (Senior Fellow, National Center for Policy Analysis), Mitch Roob (Secretary, Indiana Family and Social Services Administration), Tim Murphy (President, Beacon Health Strategies), and Peter Harbage (Senior Program Associate, New America Foundation), respectively.  John Goodman spoke about the NCPA Handbook, the current SCHIP reauthorization debate, and health care reform in general.  Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was the honorary host of the briefing.  Senator Graham has sponsored legislation with Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) to encourage states to "experiment" with health care reform.

The National Center for Policy Analysis is a public policy research institute founded in 1983 and internationally known for its studies on public policy issues. The NCPA is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with an office in Washington, D.C.
