On the Firing Line with Dennis McCuistion

“Anyone can be aggressive or even rude, and that’s judged as tough. But unless you have reason to do that, I’m not sure it gets you much. The point of an interview is to try to get useful information and allow people to reveal things about themselves.” – Steve Kroft

Emmy Award winning journalist and “60 Minutes” correspondent Steve Kroft will be “on the firing line” with Dennis McCuistion at the next Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lecture Series Luncheon on Friday, November 2 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

Kroft was named a “60 Minutes” correspondent in May 1989; the 2011‒12 season is his 23rd on the broadcast. He is a recipient of three George Foster Peabody Awards and of eleven Emmy awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Emmy for his body of work. Kroft’s exclusive interview with then Governor Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, was reported on the front page of virtually every newspaper in the country, and continues to be cited as a defining moment of that presidential election.

Kroft’s experience as a reporter has left a thought-provoking and profound impact. At this luncheon, he will offer a “no-holds-barred” exploration of his experiences around the globe and the insight he’s gained from meeting some of the world’s most influential people. Kroft will also offer an inside look at how news is reported and the effects it has on today’s society.
